Custom Industrial Chicago Waterworks Sprocket Pub Table
About the Item
This table continues our tradition of transforming interesting industrial artifacts into distinctive, yet fully functional pieces. The base of this table is actually a massive, cast-steel, 34" sprocket sourced from the Chicago Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (the same organization that famously reversed the flow of the Calumet River). The Sprocket itself is a stout 180lbs, and as a result, has been painted green and mounted on steel caster-wheels to make the whole table easily movable. The top is solid 2" thick Pine with an applied basket-weave, parquet treatment made from 3/4" hardwood planks sourced from 80 year old cigar factory pallets. Eighty years of transporting tobacco leaves has given the wood a gorgeous red tint that compliments the rugged base perfectly. This striking table would work great in a bar, bistro or restaurant but would be equally at home as a unique kitchen or dining table.
