About the Item
Mid-century modern sculptural nesting tables in South American peteribí wood and glass, c. 1960
Product Description
A stunning set of three mid-century modern nesting tables, showcasing the high-quality furniture design produced in South America (Argentina) during the 1960s, with a strong Danish influence.
These tables are constructed from peteribí wood (Cordia trichotoma), a highly prized hardwood from the region (also known as incense wood), valued for its beautiful grain, warm tone, and excellent durability—an exquisite alternative to teak.
The set features a distinctive architectural design of Z-shaped or zigzag legs, demonstrating sophisticated craftsmanship and elevating the simple side table to the status of a sculptural piece. This classic nesting format offers elegant functionality, allowing the three tables to be stored compactly or arranged individually as needed. Each table features a transparent glass top that visually lightens the robust wooden structure and allows the angular woodwork of the Peteribí frame to be appreciated.
This set is a perfect example of exceptional quality and meticulous design, offering a unique regional interpretation of the globally recognized mid-century modern style.
