About the Item

Heavy Parsons Bullnose detail covered in American Lizard Embossed Leather and Lacquered with polished brass inlays and can be used as a Desk, Writing Table or Console Table. Karl Springer was born in Berlin, Germany in 1931 and became one of the most influential American furniture stylists of the late 20th Century. Karl Springer created a unique blending of chic sophistication, while at the same time a bit of crudeness. Karl Springer became a top window designer for the Lord & Taylor flagship store on Fifth Avenue. In the evenings Karl developed a line of exotic leather accessories. Some people say that the Duchess of Windsor discovered him and she catapulted Karl into the limelight. Springer was always in the pursuit of the finest materials and old world finishing that gave Karl’s pieces their appeal. Karl passed away in 1991 and the company ceased production in 1992.
