Michael Anastassiades Ordinal Table For Cassina

About the Item

Michael Anastassiades Ordinal Table For Cassina A collection of tables by Michael Anastassiades with contemporary, sculptural lines, where the London designer’s typical metal work merges with the artisan skills and creativity of the Cassina master joiners. The clean, minimalist lines of this design table pair a very thin wood or marble top with slender legs placed on the diagonal to make more room for diners, thanks to a complex construction technique that marries stability, solidity and space-saving size. The range includes 5 sizes, in square, rectangular or oval top variants, lacquered or veneered. The single-finish marble table version provides additional sculptural preciousness to the collection. TOP American walnut, natural or black stained oak veneer, matt or glossy lacquered, marble. LEGS Solid oak or anodized, painted or chromed aluminum, placed diagonally at the ends of the table. A collection of contemporary and sculptural dining tables, in which the typical metal workmanship of the designer is combined with the craftsmanship and expertise of the Cassina carpentry. The clean, essential design combines a minimal thickness wooden top with slender legs, in wood or anodised or painted aluminium, placed diagonally at the ends of the table to provide more space for diners. This was an extreme challenge for the company's Research and Development Centre, which came up with an innovative solution combining stability, strength and reduced thickness. The range includes two square, two rectangular and one oval version, available with lacquered or veneered tops, or in single-finish marble to add further sculptural preciousness to the collection. The models with veneered tops feature precious solid wood edges. About the Designer: “One leg is placed at each of the four corners of the table, highlighting the boundaries of the top. The diagonal orientation of the legs is intended to maximize strength while the geometric design draws attention to the edge of the table. This relationship creates an illusion that changes depending on the angle of view: the leg appears sleek and slender and yet massive. Crafted primarily of aluminum, the physicality and finish of the legs changes to accentuate this interaction between color and contrast.” About Manufacture: Established in 1927 by Cesare and Umberto Cassina in Meda, Italy, Cassina launched industrial design in Italy in the 1950s, based on a totally innovative approach that marked the transition from artisan production to mass production. With a mindset focused on research and innovation, Cassina combines technology and long-standing artisan craftsmanship. Memory, research, innovation. Cassina blends traditional skills and superior productivity, meticulous attention to detail and passion, uniqueness and experimentation, wellbeing and sustainability. Today, the company continues to address new lifestyles with the creation of complete, harmonious interior decor solutions that embody the best contemporary design for all areas of the home.
