Sequoia Brown Marble "Tabula Rasa" design by MMDesign for Officina della Scala

About the Item

As a result of the extreme cleanliness of the line, 'Tabula rasa' was born from the union of two typically antithetical materials: marble and aluminium. The first is the material of classicism, of timeless architecture, of nature capable of expressing an infinite number of harmonious colour combinations. The second is the symbol of modernity, of contemporary architecture, of human action capable of transforming metals into ductile and malleable materials. The impressiveness of marble meets the lightness of aluminium in a project that breaks the mould, reversing traditional functions: it is not marble that supports aluminium thanks to its resistance, but the exact opposite. Suitable for elegant and rigorous contexts as well as high-tech spaces, 'Tabula rasa' represents the blank sheet around which to express any design idea. In this version, aluminium simply painted and left pure is juxtaposed by a marvellous sequoia brown marble. Delivery time: 8-10 weeks after payment well received and depending on the type of customisation required.

It is realized in recycled steel and a special table top Material made of food scraps. The Material of the table top was developed by MOGU, using a bio-based resin and low-value biomass, such as corn crops, rice straw, spent coffee grounds, waste algae and shells. The pieces can be assembled all together to form a large leaf-shaped table, or can be arranged in creative combinations, to suit different needs, to display objects in a shop, for an exhibition or in a house. The whole table tells a story of circularity: innovative materials crafted into beautiful objects describe a new possible paradigm where resources are not depleted, but reinvested into a new metabolic loops. A new materialism that invents new narratives and form the common ground of our renewed relationships with the planet. And even more than that, a table of discussion that makes visible, the invisible flows of waste, not in a condescending way but with a positive proposal where different and circular logics are actually possible.
