Your Private Sky Table, sculptural table
About the Item
Your Private Sky, like the other pieces designed by the duo – he’s an artist, she’s a designer – was made entirely by hand. It is characterized by a concrete support surface, finished with a white texture that, according to the designers’ intention, recalls the clouds in the sky. The asymmetry of the table’s organic shape is also underlined by the different design of the two legs. On one side a stainless steel slab curved in an S shape, on the other one what looks like a white lava rock, also made of concrete.
Pettersen & Hein
Activated through observations of the urban environment and their everyday surroundings, the shared practice of artist Magnus Pettersen and designer Lea Hein aims to twist the perceptions of industrial materials through transformation and interruption. Championing a hands-on approach to form giving, Pettersen & Hein produce each object or surface within their Albertslund workshop. Approaching materiality through the aesthetic and ethical freedom of an art practice, they bypass conventional production methods in order to bring new life to concrete, steel, ceramic and wood. Their work contains an intuitive love for imperfections – turning hard industrial materials into poetic and sensuous functional objects through a combination of colour alterations, surface treatments and experiments in form. Focusing on contrast and friction within their work highlights the inherent relationships between materials, objects and the user, conceptually elevating their practice above conventional notions of form and function.

The beauty of their works is a design without the typical restrictions and boundaries of form and function that the field adopts. Pettersen & Hein’s collections are a homage to material, color, and form, the objects are the outcome of an aesthetic investigation that is free from rules and functions, allowing them to create new sculptural shapes. A powerful design that is questioning the idea of product and art.
Known for their less-than-functional pieces, Danish duo Lea Hein and Magnus Pettersen create sculptural forms that marry those two symbiotic bedfellows: art and design. Their latest models are no different; taking up residence at contemporary gallery Etage Projects in Copenhagen, the organic concrete, steel and iron pieces create a home that plays with notions of what we call furniture.
‘We shape our furniture, and afterwards the furniture shapes us,’ says the duo. It is with this aesthetic that they began their project. Using concrete as a starting material, they laid down a flooring of multicoloured tiles, covering this in an array of abstract forms.
While their functional purposes are not significant, the way the pieces sit in harmony is undeniable. The rough-cut concrete vases and conceptual side tables...

Sculptural Bone Marquetry Table, Tabla Table
By Karl Springer
Located in New York City, NY
Step closer and let the beat of the Tabla Table resonate through every crafted curve and angle of this exquisite end table. Drawing inspiration from the timeless rhythm of this famed Indian percussion instrument, the Tabla End Table harmoniously merges cultural reverence with ultramodern aesthetics.
Its wood foundation, the unique form sets the stage for what can only be described as a symphony in wood and bone. The angular bone chips, meticulously arranged atop this base, sing a silent visual sonnet with their tonal pattern as a soundscape.
The tables sculptural essence is more than mere form; it's a dance. A quiet sway in spaces that transforms static interiors into dynamic stages where light and shadow pirouette across its rhythmic surface.
Honored with the illustrious NY Cottages & Garden Innovation in Design Award (IDA), it stands as a testament to design and craftsmanship.
But the Tabla's Resonance isn't just about grand accolades or its stunning aesthetics. Its also adaptable. Custom sizes mould it to your space's unique demands. And with an array of exquisite materials—from the deep allure of horn to the shimmering touch of Penn shell...
