About the Item

An exceptional 18th century Swedish Gustavian tilt-top table with a patchwork birch, burl rootwood top over a turned birch column that rests on a tripod pedestal base with cabriole legs ending in a padded foot. The natural light birch finish has been French-polished highlighting the exquisite burled grain of the top. The expert craftsmanship of this table is evidenced in the masterful articulation of the legs and feet. The burl rootwood veneer of the top, is also beautifully handled with small patches quilted together to create an overall pattern that is captivating! Sweden, circa 1790.
