Large 19th century inlaid walnut tilt top table

About the Item

19th century inlaid walnut tilt top table circa 1860 Fine quality oval tilt top occasional table, often known as a loo table due to a popular card game starting in the 18th century.  This table is of slightly more grander scale. Burr walnut top, profusely inlaid with swags and flowers in a oval pattern around the table top, using such woods as boxwood, tulipwood and satinwood among others.  Bull nosed edge with reeding under the freize.  Supported by a turned and carved bulbous stem which support the 4 heavily carved legs.  Ending in a ball and claw foot with brass castor. Top tilts up when not in use. Ideal for an occasional table or even as a light dining table for 4. Minor losses to top surface which are photographed.  Some areas of fill restoration around centre of base.
