Louis XVI Period French Console Dessert Server. Server features richly solid Mahogany and refined with gilt bronze mounts throughout. The piece is topped with a shaped marble surface, beautifully framed by a pierced bronze gallery. Below, a single drawer is subtly integrated into the apron, and the server is supported by four fluted tapering legs joined by a shaped lower shelf, showcasing the symmetry, balance, and neoclassical restraint that define Louis XVI design.
Dessert servers were used in France during this era were used to present pastries, fruit, liqueurs, and sweets. This piece is still very versatile in today's interiors. It can be used as a hallway or foyer accent table, a bar or drinks table, a bedside table, or a display stand for art, ceramics, botanicals, or curated collections.
