19th Century French Empire Tray Top Table/Stand w/Shelf
About the Item
This is the sweetest small table with great mahogany grained veneer and a nice 1 1/2 inch deep tray top. It rolls easily on brass castors and the diamond shaped shelf with a fine edge is classy, but the table has many repairs and signs of age and use.. It is a sturdy piece, but there are many spots where the veneer has been replaced and on the side, especially it needs more repair. I think the brass gryphon escutcheon is not original because it would block the keyhole for the lock which is still there. I like to remember that because the work has been done to it, this lovely table is still with us, someone cared enough to fix it rather than dispose of it.
