Art Deco Two-Tier Burl Walnut Steamship Cocktail Table

About the Item

This Art Deco steamship two-tier table is an example of the popular cocktail tables of the roaring twenties. They were used to serve cocktails, hold books, accessories, and ashtrays, and witnessed many unrestrained affairs. It has a geometrical hexagon design with chrome bent handles and feet. The bent handles are a handy aid for those who are tipsy or dealing with motion sickness. The surfaces are veneered in book-matched burl walnut and the edges are trimmed in rosewood veneer. Burlwood is coveted as it produces a marbled grain secreted, beneath the bark, that has a few disfigured knots known as the burls, which are considered gems and add to the exoticness of the wood. This unexpected table would add interest to any room on sea or land that needs a small table that holds small items. This table weighs approximately 10 lbs.
