Elm Small Altar Table, China, Mid-19th Century

About the Item

A small Chinese altar display table, hand-crafted in Elm wood, circa 1860-1880. Soft, supple elm wood, in a dark brown/red semi-gloss finish. Beautifully turned legs with circular feet and a turned stretcher underneath the top surface. Clean, elegant and simple lines. Very well preserved, with a natural patina conferred by time. The table presents two very small cracks in its top surface, mainly due to age. No recent repairs or restorations are apparent. However, its structural integrity is not compromised. 17.5 inches wide, 8.25 inches deep, 5.5 inches wide.
