About the Item

A rare pair of elegant Louis XVI faience tray tables, crafted by Hannover-Münden circa 1780. The tables feature original hand-painted faience trays with high, profiled edges. One tray is adorned with a vase filled with flowers, while the other depicts a floral basket. The borders are embellished with lilac garlands and detailed paintings of wildflowers and foliage in shades of blue and green. The bases are crafted from solid Cherrywood with profiled edges that elegantly follow the shape of the trays. Each table includes an apron with a drawer and its original lock, while the slender, tapered legs are accented with profiled edges and finished with dentil moldings and small "shoes." Both trays bear the distinctive "CC over C" hallmark, a signature of the Hannover-Münden faience manufactory, active from 1732 to 1854. Additionally, the initials "F" and "L" identify the artisans responsible for the exquisite decoration. About the Manufacturer The Fayence-Manufaktur Münden, based in Hannoversch-Münden, Germany, was a renowned ceramics manufactory active from 1732 to 1854. Known for its exquisite faience pieces, the manufactory crafted a range of items, including vases, tableware, and decorative objects, often reflecting popular styles such as Louis XVI. Their hallmark, featuring interlocking "CC" motifs, is a signature of their craftsmanship. This manufactory was celebrated for its high-quality designs and remains highly collectible among enthusiasts of 18th-century European ceramics. Note: One tray (floral basket) shows evidence of an older professional repair, which has aged naturally over time.
