Art Deco Steel Table Attributed to Hawker Aircraft, 1930’s - 1940’s
About the Item
A wonderful Art Deco dressing table from the 1930’s - 1940’s attributed to the Hawker Aircraft Co., which, besides manufacturing aircraft, produced furniture for RAF bases across Europe.
It is made entirely from steel and chromed steel for the banding and handles.
The top was replaced with a new sheet of stainless steel because the condition of the original steel top was unsatisfactory. As for condition, it is in very good condition overall with some rust and pitting on the bottom drawers. See pictures. From the aesthetic point of view, an unpainted metal cabinet such as this one is quite striking and extremely appealing for those who appreciate the industrial look in interior design. Although it was originally designed as a vanity, it can be used anywhere as a standalone console table or small sideboard or even as an accent piece in a hallway for example because of that Art Deco industrial Streamline appearance.
