19th Century French Bonheur Du Jour Writing Desk

About the Item

A pretty French Louis XV style writing desk or ‘bonheur du jour’, the serpentine case veneered in book-matched Kingwood and raised on elegant cabriole legs and accented with gilt trim throughout. Single drawer to the frieze and with fitted gilt-tooled leather writing surface. Smaller upper drawers flanking a central shelf above shaped beveled mirror. C. 1890
