French 19th Century Ebonized & Inlay Vanity
About the Item
A petite ebonized vanity with bone inlay detail from the 1800s, France. The unadorned vanity top opens on brass hinges to reveal an inset mirror for checking one's appearance, over a shallow compartment fitted with a removable and sliding tray of three sections. As a drawer it will slide forward only when the top lid is up, doubling the work surface. Around the apron one finds intricate, geometric bone inlay complemented by an ornate rococo cartouche on the drawer front. Fantastic Louis XVI style legs with turned and fluted designs are met with a coordinating stretcher just above the floor, also inlaid with fine strips of bone to coordinate back to the case. We believe this item to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. Please view the detailed image gallery for the current condition and message us with any questions.
