A rare, top quality, beautifully crafted kidney shaped vanity table in the Louis XVI Style by Gustave Keller. The dressing table, circa 1890s, is made of marquetry rosewood and violet wood and rests of cylindrical tapered legs finished with brass sabots. The apron features one pull-out shelf and five drawers. The middle drawer has a brass plate with the Gustave Keller stamp. The arched top beveled mirror is framed in sterling silver.

Gustave Keller was an internationally renowned silversmith in Paris, founded in 1856, specializing in elegant decorative accessories made of gold and silver. The societe Keller exhibited works at the 1889 and 1900 Paris world exhibitions, and won a medaille d'or grand prix. Keller's shop was moved to 22 rue Joubert in 1891 and attracted some of the most prestigious clients, becoming the official silversmith to the courts of Spain, Russia, Greece and Romania. In fact, the Russian court was such an important client in 1897 that the last tsar regularly purchased all of his personal silver pieces from Keller in Paris.
