1978 "Laser Nude" Silver Gelatin Print by Erich Hartmann, Signed
About the Item
An original silver gelatin photograph by Erich Hartmann (American/German, 1922-1999) from his 'Writing With Light' series. It is presented in its original matte and frame, signed and dated by Hartmann at matte's lower right corner. Rare to market.
A refugee from Nazi Germany, Hartmann settled in New York city and became known to the wider public during the 1950s via a series of photo essays for Fortune magazine. During the 1970s, he became obsessed with laser light, creating an entire series of work in which he manipulated and projected the beams onto landscapes and models - - this culminated in a major show in New York as well as others. His 1995 publication, In The Camps, documents the remains of over 30 former Nazi concentration camps. His photography has been exhibited in both solo and group shows worldwide.
