Brutalist bird wall art, decoration by spanish Madola 1979

About the Item

Madola Brutalist Wall Art. Spanish creation from 1979. The bold and adventurous Madola contributes enduring works in the avant-garde, abstract, and evolving postmodern styles. Their passion, instincts, and spiritual sensibilities shape unique contemporary creations rooted in natural essence. Picasso and Gaudí laid profound foundations for artists to build upon, culturally enriching Spain and being considered essential to the country's soul. Symbolic Meaning of the Dove, Pigeon (Columbidae) The medium-sized dove is the bird of eternal fidelity, symbolizing the soul, harmony, and spring. It represents fulfilled love and motherhood. In Egypt, it symbolizes immortality; in Mesopotamia, it's an attribute of the goddess Ishtar; in Greco-Roman culture, it's associated with Venus or Aphrodite. In Dodona, it was the prophetic bird. In Jewish tradition, it signifies innocence, peace, and immortality. In Christianity, it symbolizes the source of life, the embodiment of the Holy Spirit: 'And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him.' (Matthew 3:16) When the dove brings a ring to Mary, it symbolizes the betrothed of the Holy Spirit, but it also occasionally represents the apostles during the crucifixion. In folklore, it symbolizes the beloved woman, and a pair of doves symbolizes love. It's fundamentally in good condition, with a few scratches visible on the frame. Dimensions: 56 x 43 x 7 cm Madola Biography: Born on February 14, 1944, in Barcelona. Studied ceramics at Escola Massaná in Barcelona and obtained a doctorate from the Barcelona School of Fine Arts. Since 1996, has participated in solo and group exhibitions in various Spanish cities (Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Canary Islands, Seville, Pamplona, Gijón, etc.), as well as in foreign countries (France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, Slovenia, USA, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, China). Has won several awards. A member of the International Academy of Ceramics based in Geneva and the UNESCO Work and Creator Council in Paris. Invited by various public and private institutions to give lectures and seminars on large-scale ceramics, especially for public spaces. Works can be found in various collections and national and international museums. Conducts various studies supported by the Catalan Government on materials, sculptural intentions, and their integration into public spaces. Since 1988, has worked on large-scale works in Barcelona (Plaça de la Font Castellana 1992), Manchester (Catalan Square 1996), Icheon Park in Korea (Memory Catalonia-Korea), as well as in domestic and foreign territories. Besides ceramic works, has been working on paper, glass, and paintings since 1980. "I found sources of inspiration living intensely in Catalonia, Barcelona, and the Maresme region, in the blue of the sea, the plum color of the carob trees, and the ocher of the earth; in my old neighborhood, Sarrià, where a monk strolled down quiet streets reading a prayer book; in historical Barcelona, the ancient black stones covered in graffiti; in my childhood studio with my family, in the Romanesque Art Museum, and also with Gaudí, Picasso, Miró, Tàpies; to draw from our Mediterranean culture but also from my travels, encountering contrasts in the East, mysteries in Arab and African countries, identifying with ancient Europe, and the geographical and architectural richness of America. Sometimes I work as a musician, in the form of variations; sometimes I create shows that differ only slightly with a little movement, which moves, accumulates, or compresses the material on itself." ______________________________________________________ In our studio, we curate a captivating collection of unique pieces primarily from the European period spanning the 1930s to the 1970s.
