Contemporary Artwork CALX01 By Mokko X Studio Heinsius
About the Item
Calx01 is an abstract limestone wall object with both fluid and solid qualities. Shiny and flowing like water, while rock hard and porous like stone.
The object is designed by Aad Bos and crafted by Martijn Heinsius from Studio Heinsius, based in Klaukkala, Finland. Martijn has mastered the ancient process of Tadelakt application for over 20 years.
Mokko represents a collection of interior objects designed by founder Aad Bos. The Amsterdam-based studio was established in 2017 and creates custom products for interior professionals and design enthusiasts internationally.
Objects by Mokko feature a rhythm of monolithic form, created through an iteration of volumes and voids. Architectural elements are balanced, weighed and stripped from excess, until the essence of the inspiration is translated into a sculptural object that is emotionally resonant.
With respect for nature and robust furniture building, each piece is made in close collaboration with local carpenters in the Netherlands from high-quality, sustainable materials. All objects are custom-made and conceived as future heirlooms; intended to be valued, used and passed down through generations.

Each design is the result of a balancing of volumes, voids and weight, where form follows rhythm. Creation through exploration, while searching for the sculptural composition that moves and stays relevant. Mokko combines the robustness of traditional furniture building with contemporary aesthetics. With respect for traditional craftsmanship and nature, all products of the collection are made by carpenters in the Netherlands out of solid sustainable materials of the highest quality. Each object is made with the vision to be passed down through generations and one day revive through vintage shops. Aad (1985) is a self-taught designer who was drawn to art and design from an early age. During his 20's Aad studied law and worked as a lawyer, until he was definitively captivated by the idea of creating on his own terms in the field of product design, which resulted in founding Mokko in 2017. Mokkō means 'woodcraft' in Japanese. It were Aad’s travels through Japan that inspired him to exchange his corporate and linguistic real
