He is currently a full professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Mexico City, where he is a Distinguished Professor. He is the founder and curator of the Artis Gallery, of the Metropolitan Autonomous University, Mexico City. Among his most outstanding students are Jorge Carol, Nelson Domínguez, Roberto Fabelo, Erique Martínez, Manuel Monroy, Pedro Pablo Oliva, Tomás Sánchez, among others. In 1967 he participated in the collective mural that was part of the activities of the Salon de Mai à Paris exhibition held in Havana together with artists such as Valerio Adami, Karel Appel, Cesar Baldaccini, Corneille Beverloo, Asger Jorn, Wifredo Lam, among others. In 1970 he painted 16 murals of different dimensions for the Pavilion of Cuba at the Universal Exposition, Osaka and in 1972 he created a stained glass window of about 70 meters high as part of a monument for a tribute to martyrs that is located on the outskirts of Havana. In 1972, as later, he participated in all the Encounters of Plastic Arts of Latin America, in Havana. In 1977 he was elected President of the Plastic Arts Division of the Union of Artists of Cuba, Havana, and a year later he was also elected President of the Cuban National Committee of the Association Internationale des Arts Plastiques UNESCO, Paris. In 1982, as a member of the Forum of Contemporary Art, Mexico City, he participated in the Encounter of Visual Arts and Identity in Latin America with a presentation that was commented by Raquel Tibol and in the exhibition together with Carlos Aguirre, Arnold Belkin, Manuel Felgueres, Graciela Iturbide, Julio Le Parc, Federico Silva, among others.
