For sale, is a signed and numbered unique limited edition print, titled "PAINTING BY NUMBERS" by Jake Chapman and produced in 2022.
The work is numbered 45 from an edition of 50 unique prints, hand watercoloured on an altered digital print of Francisco Goya's 'Lo mismo en otras partes' etching taken from his series, "Los Desastres de la Guerra" (Disasters of War), Madrid 1863.
Signed and numbered in pencil and printed on Colorplan White Frost 350gsm paper, the work is mounted and framed in a birchwood box frame.
Working together with his older brother, Dinos Chapman, Young British Artist Jake Chapman has been producing installations, sculptures, paintings, and works on paper since the early 1990s that appal, anger, seduce, and thrill—often simultaneously. An iconoclast to his core, Chapman describes himself as a collection of “traitorous little traits that add up to make the big deplorable trait that is me, me, me.” Such tongue-in-cheek humour underpins all of his work, through which he confronts the horrors and excesses of history, culture, politics, and religion with an unforgiving aesthetic. He does not shy away from representations of sex, violence, and mutilation. In Fucking Hell (2008), for example, he and his brother created an immense tabletop tableau representing the 20th century as a grotesque, apocalyptic warscape. (Artsy)

This poster for an exhibition undertaken by the Smithsonian Institution and was produced as a Resident Associates Program Exhibit for the organizations 10th anniversary. The work is pencil signed and numbered 80 of 200. Davis was born in Washington DC in 1920 and died in the city he gave so much to in 1985. A major 20th-century figure in American painting Davis's contributions to Washington were invaluable in helping to establish DC as a center for contemporary art.
