Julie Nangala Robertson, Ngapa Jukurrpa, Acrylic on canvas, 2015

About the Item

ABOUT THE WORK NGAPA DREAMING In her paintings, Julie Nangala represents “Pirlinyanu”, her father's land of which she is the custodian, close to Mina Mina, a rocky land rich in deep-water springs. Through her work on the Dream of Water, she develops her own pictorial language, continuing the research carried out by her mother, Dorothy Napangardi, on color contrasts. Her canvases are minimalist, innovative and very often painted with just two or three colors (mainly white, black and red), reminiscent of the white traces left on the ochre soil by the salt that is so characteristic of this land. ABOUT JULIE NANGALA ROBINSON Julie Nangala Robertson, also known as Robinson, was born in 1973 in Yuendumu (Northern Territory, Australia). She is one of five daughters of the great artist Dorothy Napangardi. Julie Nangala Robertson began painting alongside her mother in the late 1990s. It is for this reason that we can admire in these works a very elaborate and accomplished technique passed on by her mother. Strengthened by her family roots and undeniable artistic talent, she is destined to become an emblematic figure of contemporary Aboriginal art in the near future. Her talent is internationally recognized, and her paintings can be found in numerous private and public collections, including the Musée des Confluences in Lyon, France. His works can be found in prestigious collections: Musée des Confluences, Lyon (France) Dr Arthur Bridge Collection, Sydney (Australia) Edith Cowan University Art Collection, Perth (Australia) Flinders University Art Museum, Adelaide (Australia) Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Collection, University of Virginia, Charlottesville (United States)

Multidisciplinary artist, designer, photographer, and founder of her eponymous brand of wallpapers, tiles, and home textiles, Aimée Wilder presents Shadow Wildling, a new series of large-format silkscreened paintings. This debut fine art edition draws inspiration from Aimée’s textile design background to explore tessellation, positive/negative space, mathematics, fractal dragon curves, and nuanced color relationships.  These new paintings, however, reverse the usual role of patterned designs within interior spaces. Rather than an all-over application of patterned wallpaper...
