Kirsi Hannele Neuvonen (b. 1960 in Keuruu) graduated from Lahti Art School in 1984. She is based in Jyväskylä where she has worked as a graphic artist and visual artist for 38 years. Neuvonen's main technique has been intaglio printing and he is known as a developer of coloured metal graphics. Neuvonen has been awarded the State Prize in 1987 and the Finland Prize in 1997. He has received several grants during his career.
Neuvonen's works are often inspired by technical experimentation. His inspiration for his works and their colour scheme often comes from art history through works that are meaningful to him. Neuvonen is also interested in naturalistic works depicting animals and vegetation and uses them as source material. Neuvonen's best-known works are costume pieces, which she has made seasonally since 1987.
In metalligraphy, the Council is attracted by the possibilities offered by technology. The technique can be used to create a light, airy surface or a flowing line, or it can be used to create strong colour surfaces, or he can choose to create works with a grey scale. Neuvonen says that as an artist, the end result of a work is a matter of mood, imagination and chance, and only takes shape when the tiles are finished and he is able to test-edit them.
