Miklos Nemeth "Nude" watercolor on paper, 1950s
About the Item
Miklos Nemeth (1934-2012), "Nude", watercolor, signed, framed behind glass
57 x 67 cm
Nemeth began his studies in 1950 at Ödön Marffy's School of Fine Arts in Budapest. He was soon influenced by well-known painters such as Istvab Szönyi, Oszkar Glatz and Janos Metty. Despite the collaboration with and inspiration from these renowned artists, Miklos Nemeth developed his own style. As early as 1957, he was delighted to have the opportunity to work in various artists' colonies in Hungary. This was followed by numerous exhibitions and awards for his work. Miklos Nemeth was included in the register of the National Association of Hungarian Artists and was held in high esteem by being elected a member of the Association of Hungarian Painters.
Throughout his life, Miklos Nemeth was characterized by his strict rejection of socialist realism. He mainly oriented himself towards Western art and concentrated on subjects such as nature, urban landscapes, female bodies and working life. The motifs of his works were always tangible for him and Miklos Nemeth therefore enjoyed taking his easel outdoors to have the opportunity to create his works directly on location. Characteristic of his paintings was the bold choice of colors combined with his impulsive painting style.
