About the Item
Fantastic find! Believed to be a one-of-a-kind maquette, this was possibly a billboard work up for the New York Journal American. Closed in the 1966, the newspaper was known for color and this piece is right on point. Gorgeous shades of blues and greens make the background for our winking wise owl. Very hard to capture in photos, but the owl eye is actually two pieces, suggesting an anthropomorphic wink in the envisioned end product. Really great visual impact and New York vibe.
