Peter Buchman "Echo", Mixed Media, 2016

Contemporary artist Peter Buchman's "Echo" is made of wood, bondo, plexiglass and enamel. This piece is part of an ongoing series with patterns of dots. A residency professor once told Peter to run away from successful work. Nobody in their right mind runs away from a direction that works. However when you explore let's say abstraction as inspiration because it is challenging to understand, deconstruct, reinvent and reinterpret, new ideas do come to light. These panels are restrained inventions - exploring every positive and negative option within his direction but also within form and color. Buchman presents the rectangles, squares and circles as is. They are strong, yet restrained and he is still able to move an edge or a line, or the number in the patterns within the work. There is an arbitrary plan that's never established right away with these forms however the light and dark is on purpose, the shadows are by accident. Signed on verso.
