About the Item

A monumental pencil and acrylic painting on canvas by American artist Marc Ross, 2022. This minimal abstract painting features an impressive gradation of ochre and burnt orange hues with visible pencil lines, giving it an astonishing sense of depth. Signed, dated, and titled en verso. Presented unframed. Marc Ross is an American artist from Ohio who received his BFA from Ohio University, attended graduate school at the University of Chicago and completed his MFA in painting at Kent State University. Over the course of his career, he worked as a designer, freelancer, muralist, faux-finish painter and taught high school for sixteen years. His paintings are best known for their complex layers of iridescent colors, which he then sands down using an electric sander to reveal layers once obscured. The effect is a luminous glow when viewed from afar. Condition: Contemporary. Presented as photographed, unframed.
