19th Century Master of Tea Ceremony Sign
About the Item
An elaborate and intricately carved master of tea ceremony sign inscribed with the names of the master and his students, as well as the date. Beautiful gold lacquer highlights the large central characters. Detailed carvings appear on the frame of the piece, including a classically carved bat symbol at the bottom center of the piece symbolizing happiness and good fortune. From Shanxi Province, circa 1875.
