20th Century Italian Painted Majolica Barbotine Wall Charger with Saint John

About the Item

Decorate a wall with this antique and colorful barbotine platter; crafted in Italy, circa 1920, the large charger features Saint John the Evangelist holding a pen and writing a book, with an eagle standing on the side, symbolizing the elevation of his theological thought. The ceramic plate is further decorated with floral and leaf motifs around the perimeter. The wall piece is in excellent condition with rich patinated colors in the yellow, blue and green palette. Brass plate hanger included for easy installation. Measures: 17" diameter.
