50 Million Year Old Eocene Era Fossil Fish Aspiration in Stone, from Wyoming

Aspirations are among our most sought after specimens. The circle of life and death is preserved for all time in this natural fossil. This tableau features a greedy Diplomystus dentatus who met his end while trying to eat a Knightia eocaena who was just too large for him. These 50 million year old Eocene fossils are exquisite in their natural limestone matrix. The mural measures 9.25 inches x 13 inches. It is fully backed with wood and it includes a handmade custom Wenge wood frame which compliments the fossil color beautifully. The mural has a built-in heavy duty hanger which allows for an easy installation. -Framed mural size: 9.25" H x 13" W x 1" D -Mural weight: 3 lbs -Includes a Green River Stone Company "Certificate of Authenticity" -Fossil Content: (1) Diplomystus dentatus (measuring 6") and (1) Knightia eocaena (3"), aspiration About this artwork Fifty million years ago, in southwestern Wyoming, a tropical freshwater lake teemed with life—turtles, fish, crocodiles, and plants. Today the petrified lake has transformed into a stunning quarry of fossils, embedding the past into layers of stone. This is famously known as the Green River Formation. The beautifully preserved fossils are meticulously excavated from our private quarry and then prepared by our leading experts in fossil preparation and preservation. All work adheres to the strict standards of the American Association of Applied Paleontological Science, as is attested to in each work of art's unique Certificate of Authenticity. We have supplied stunning examples of our natural art to world-class museums, collectors, interior designers, and art lovers. Our collection highlights important one-of-a-kind pieces as well as affordable works of natural art.
