Caroline Doüezy D’Ollendon Aliases Caroline "de" La Ville-sur-Illon, "de" Ollendon, Caroline "d'" Ollendon Polychrome enamel plaque on copper Depicting a Lady of Court, in Neo Renaissance ceremonial dress and wearing her many jewels. Fragments of paillon and highlights with gilded glazing paint enrich the jewelry and clothes of the young woman. Monogrammed C D'O lower left Very nice quality of enamel and beautiful size Original carved and gilded bronze frame Circa 1880 Cf : Sotheby’s Londres 24/02/2016 Masterpieces of the Roberto Polo Collection, Lot sold for 13750 GBP Very similar to 3 pieces in the collection of the Ste Croix Museum in Paris, Eva (2) and a young woman with large hat. Madame d'Ollendon (c. 1831-1908), daughter of Count Charles de la Ville sur Ilon and his wife Anna Elisa de Lâage de la Brétollière, was born in an aristocratic family of the army in Poitiers. She trained in Paris with Mlle. de Maussion as a copyist and painter on porcelain and enamel, and after her marriage to Baron Alexandre d'Ouezy. D'Ollendon exhibited at the Paris Salons from 1865 to 1881 and at the Universal Exhibition of 1889, where she received a bronze medal. She is also very present in the regional fairs of all France where he exhibits his enamels, mainly religious theme. The works of this artist, present in museums, are very rare , apart most of time some religious pieces, on the market. Works in museums : 14 enamel plaques on copper, in Ste Croix Museum, Poitiers, France.

He is best known for his work designing enamels for the companies manufacturing porcelain in Limoges. Floral and figurative motifs in richly enameled colors are his signature. At the beginning of the 20th century, he sold his creations in Paris in the shop Au Vase Étrusque. In this shop, he produces and exhibits vases, bowls, ashtrays, boxes and other objects. The 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts marks Fauré’s breakthrough. He becomes the most famous enameller of Limoges.
