About the Item
Sublime ceramic image on wooden wall plaque 1960s relief with beautiful colors.
Roland Zobel (died in 2004), a native of Martinique and son of famous author, Joseph Zobel, he was credited with the rebirth of pottery production in Anduze, France, which had a history of pottery-making beginning in 1610. First with Atelier Les Cyclades, then later with Poterie de la Madeleine.
Zobel was trained at the School of Fine Arts in Bourges in France and at the Faenza International School of Ceramics in Italy. He created the "Cyclades" workshop in Générargues to Anduze.
His distinctive artistic signature is evident in his craftsmanship, with a particular focus on animal and solar motifs. Zobel frequently incorporated vibrant, cracked and finely glazed enamels into his ceramics.
