Mid-century pyrogranite wall ceramic - Equestrian -

About the Item

If you're not longing for paintings or graphics but still want to spruce up your wall with something unique from the 1960s-70s, then good old wall ceramics and bas-reliefs were made for you. We absolutely love them. Zsolnay knight, equestrian sculptural wall panel, wall decoration. Colors: mocha, turquoise, drapery. The designer and creator was sculptor György Fürtös (1939-2010). This ceramic was made around 1960-70, hand-painted, glazed pyrogranite wall decoration. In flawless condition. This description paints a wonderful picture of a piece from an era filled with creativity and unique style. Zsolnay ceramics are particularly famous and highly valued. Fürtös György (born January 21, 1939, in Pécs – died October 5, 2010, in Pécs) was a ceramic artist and sculptor. He graduated from the Budapest School of Applied Arts in 1958. He then studied at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, where his teachers included Miklós Borsos, Árpád Csekovszky, and András Dózsa-Farkas. After graduating in 1962, he began working as a designer at the Zsolnay Porcelain Factory, where he remained until 1999. From 1971 to 1980, he served as the head of the factory's decorative arts department. His work consists of distinctly shaped sculptures, bas-reliefs, and sculptures often enriched with humorously distorted elements. His oeuvre includes pop-art sculptures, constructive pyrogranite wall panels and sculptures, wells, architectural ceramics, and more. _________________________________________________________ In our studio, we curate a captivating collection of unique pieces primarily from the European period spanning the 1930s to the 1970s.
