Signature: “Nic. Ceceri Fecit” signed in black ink on recto of each frame.
On verso, signed D.D Nicola Ciceri, one pair inscribed: “Greco A.D. 1791”/ “Greca A.D. 1791”; other pair inscribed: “Vestitura di Villa Badessa A.D. 1793” / “Vestitura di Villa Badessa A.D. 1793”

This rare set of four so called dressed pictures (gouache habillé) is especially remarkable for the sophistication of the textiles used and the level of artistry of the landscape backgrounds. It is also quite unusual for such works to be signed and dated by the artist. The pictures retain their late 18th century Italian veneered wooden frames and original glass.
