Set of Six Roe Deer Trophies on Carved Plaques Germany around 1970s
A set of six vintage roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) trophies from Lüneburg in Lower Saxony mounted on carved wooden plaques. The trophies were shot in Germany in the 1970s. The carved plaques are stained in dark brown. The dates of the hunt were noted on one of the plaques on the reverse in German handwriting. A great addition to every rustic cabin decoration.
Trophies are mementos from the hunted game, which are kept by the huntsmen as a souvenir or decorative item. For many centuries it was a tradition to collect trophies. Nowadays exactly these are becoming more and more popular as decorative highlights in hunting lodges.
