Set of Twelve 18th Century Zoological Engravings

About the Item

A rare 18th Century set of 12 hand-coloured copperplate engravings of Zoological studies, featuring primates of varying species. Each is colourfully executed with a naive charm and Latin names underneath. Mounted in painted moulded wood frames. After illustrations by Heinrich Altenwanger. Circa 1775. In good condition and still retains good colours.
