Silk and Metallic Threads Embroidered Tapestry in Black Wood Frame with Pearls

About the Item

Silk and Metallic Threads Embroidered Tapestry in Black Wood Frame with Pearls Large Modern Decorative Art in Erotic Style Silk, Silver Metallic Threads, Mother of Pearl, Black wood of antique lacquer woodworking, 24K Gold Leaf Lovers Under Night Cover - the work after brilliant artist Mikhail Verkholantsev as collaboration with the gallery and art studio Alexander's Collection in the modern style of couture erotica. In antiquity and in the new art Priapus (in Greek mythology, the ancient Greek god of fertility; fields and gardens - in the Romans.) took the form of herma (a special kind of sculpture, which is a four-sided column, topped with an image of a head or bust.). The head and ugly torso of the god was set on top of a rectangular pillar or column. In this artwork, the herma resembles a household lamp, symbolizing blazing love. Priam was worshipped in both Greece and Rome. Many antique images of him have survived. Legend has it that he was the son of Venus and Bacchus (or Bacchus - ancient Roman god of winemaking, agriculture and fertility, he was also called Liber. Corresponds to the god Dionysus from Greek mythology) Juno (goddess of marriage and birth, motherhood and femininity, guardian of the family) was extremely displeased with Venus' promiscuity and therefore endowed her son with grotesque ugliness. Black wood: The technology of applying lacquers to ebony, where numerous pieces made of mother-of-pearl are embedded, is almost forgotten. Only a few craftsmen are able to reproduce it today, bringing out the glass effect on the surface. An ancient lacquer technique invented in China 2000 years ago was used for this artwork. It is a natural material, the sap of the lacquer tree, known only in the Far East. In China, it began to be used in ancient times as a protective material and then for artistic purposes. The lacquers were painted, inlaid, engraved, gold, and the most complex were multi-layered lacquers. Lacquer existed in many colors by adding certain chemicals to the resin, for example, black was obtained by adding carbon like in this work. Layer after layer of translucent lacquers are applied to the surface of the ebony to produce a glass effect on the surface. Today, only a few craftsmen have mastered this almost forgotten technique. The frame itself becomes a natural extension of the design and an integral part of the artwork. This work, one of the masterpieces of the Couture Erotica Collection is executed at the highest artistic level as a unique piece for Alexander's Collection gallery.
