Wall Brass Holy Water Font Hand Painted Porcelain of the Sistine Madonna
About the Item
This is a hand painted KPM style rectangular plaque of the Sistine Madonna framed in a wall brass holy water font. The brass frame depicts three arcs, two small semicircular in the sides and a large ogee in the center. All of them decorated with scrolls of acanthus leaves climbing plants and ending with tiny crosses as a finial. There are also some Fleur de lis adorning the side arcs and the font. In the back, an old rectangular cardboard and three metal frame turn button-screws hold the plaque. A circular metal ring behind the central semi- cross serves to hang it to the wall. In the back of the plaque is written Madonna, but the other word is unrecognized.
