Wall-Plaque / Platter by Gustave Reynaud - Le Mûrier

$1,200

About

"Le Mûrier" was the pottery founded in 1955 in Vallauris, France by Gustave Reynaud, the brother-in-law of the legendary Jean Derval. Reynaud worked, often in close collaboration with Derval, in a folkish, "naive" idiom, which this piece represents superbly. Reynaud was particularly fond of fantastic animals in his painted decorations, and the giant bird depicted on this platter / wall-plaque is a charming example. Signed verso with the cipher of "Le Mûrier".
