"Floating Man," study for ceiling mural with male nude by Allyn Cox, 1920s This dramatic drawing, which demonstrates the artist's mastery of the human figure, was made by Allyn Cox about the time he was commissioned to do a series of paintings for the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library at UCLA in 1925. Son of Kenyon Cox, a renowned muralist in an earlier period, Allyn is best known for another set of murals he executed in the U.S. Capital Building after World War II. This piece is signed by the artist. (The drawing is pencil on drawing paper; it is not matted or framed.).
