A set of 2 mixed medias on paper, sketches for a mural by Mexican artist Roberto Montenegro. Both works are framed.

Roberto Montenegro (Guadalajara, 1885 - Patzcuaro, 1968) was a Mexican painter, muralist and illustrator. One of the first muralists from the post-Revolution generation, he studied at the Academy of San Carlos under Leandro Izaguirre and Alberto Fuster. He shared classes with the likes of Diego Rivera, Julio Ruelas and Saturnino Herrán. Eclipsed by the dramatic work of Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros, Montenegro ended up focusing on illustration and easel painting.
