Surrealist Pen and Ink Drawing Homage to M.C. Escher by Petru Vintila
About the Item
Peter or Petru Vintila's (1922-2002) Surrealist Homage to M.C. Escher entitled "What A Wonderful World". The medium is pen and ink on paper. At first glimpse I thought it was graphite. It's a highly detailed and labor intensive original piece. A surrealist circus like landscape where every area is covered with something strange and unusual. Signed and dated lower right and on the reverse it is signed in pencil. Retains Romanian ink stamps also on the reverse. The paper exhibition label misspells the artist's name.
Good overall condition. No visible foxing, staining, rips, tears or restorations in the image. Some minor stains in the outer margin that doesn't affect the image. One nick to the left margin (see photo). Frame not included. Black matte. The upper margin of the sheet is fixed with archival tape.
The paper sheet measure approximately 25.5" wide x 19.75" high. The matte measures 32" wide x 26" high.
