Tryptique on the 'Life of Mary', S.VICARINO, 1925
About the Item
Interesting tryptic depicting three episodes in the life of Mary:
The Annunciation( with the inscription "Ave Maria gratia plena"); The birth of the Child("et homo factus est"); and Mary at the foot of Calvary("et cum iniquis reputatua est").
Three tondos, each 0.16m in diameter, done in gouache, watercolor and gold highlights.
Original walnut frame, with a stamp on the back "Salon des Artistes( français)", 1925.
High quality execution.
Signature Suzanne VICARINO. Little is known about this artist. We have a watercolor of hers reproduced on the frontispiece of "Nous sommes au monde", a collection of poems (1940-1945) by Jean RIVIER, 1946.
