About the Item

Antique Italian painting from the 1st half of the 18th century. Artwork oil on canvas depicting a religious subject St. Francis in ecstasy with angels of good pictorial quality. Non-coeval wooden frame, from the 19th century, carved, lacquered and gilded (bronze colour, see photo). Painting that develops vertically, of a beautiful size and pleasant impact, for antique dealers and collectors of ancient sacred art. Painting depicting the Saint lying in the arms of a finely painted angel. A second angel is represented at the top right with the intention of playing the violin (see photo). St. Francis holds a crucifix in his hands and at the bottom right we find a skull (see photo), a further iconographic attribute of the saint. Painting that has undergone a conservative restoration, re-lined, replacement of the frame and color recovery in various points (see photo). Overall in good state of conservation. Sight size H 120 x W 88 cm.
