19th century Japanese framed hand painted on Silk.

Stunning and masterfully created abstract oil painting by French artist Bertrand Dorny (1931-2015) circa 1963. He lives in the rich world of color and shapes that are constantly moving. Dorny’s colors are occasionally in subtle dialogue with nature and are one of several devices that make his visual language accessible to us. He worked at the ‘Ateliers’ of André Lhote and Johnny Friedlaender. He built his work by deriving accepted techniques such as engraving, collage or folding paper to achieve a personal style in addition to his early paintings. He also taught at the Ecole de la Grande Chaumiere and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. The themes of the walk, the progressing path, the network of forms in space are at the center of his work. There are many lithographs of his work but rare to find such a pristine oil painting. He's definitely a 20th century artist whose work is under the radar. Provenance: Estate of Roger Prigent - Malmaison. Colors may vary due to room lighting. It is found in an original period aluminum frame. An exquisite example of this artist's traditional take on still-life realism, and a masterpiece in its own rite. This floral painting represents the artist's awe for botanical and floral scenes as well as his or her adept knowledge of tactile painting. With broad sweeping strokes and high texture, the artist paints a portrait of a small circular Ombre deep blue vase, filled with creamy white ranunculus or buttercups with berry color centers, green eucalyptus and small accents of white hydrangea. How we would display: A botanical painting will forever bring a certain feeling of femininity and softness to a room. This piece would be wonderful displayed in a space with too many harsh lines.
