About

Important refined oil painting on canvas from a collection of 19th century works. Painting by F. Rossano signed, a very important artist who entered the history of art among the great painters of the 19th century. Biographical note: Federico Rossano was born in Naples in 1835. He took his first steps in the art world attending the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where he first followed courses in architecture and then painting. In 1858, together with Giuseppe De Nittis, Adriano Cecioni and MarCo De Gregorio, he moved to Portici, where he was able to increase and satisfy his passion for the study of the landscape from life. The enthusiasm of this group of artists gives life to the so-called "group of Portici" or, better known, "Scuola di Resina", a movement oriented towards an anti-academic way of painting, in line with the artistic experiments of the Macchiaioli and of the realism. Federico Rossano took the first step in the official world of art in 1861, making his debut at the National Exhibition in Florence. His participation also follows at the first Mostra of the Promoter Society of Naples. It is however starting from the Promoter of 1863, and also in the later editions of the event, that the style of Rossano becomes fully coincident with the ideas of the School of Resin. Following the death of De Gregorio, in 1876, Federico Rossano moved to Paris, the city where De Nittis had resided for some time, where he remained for about twenty years and where he also met love. During his long stay in Paris he was involved in several Salon and Universal Exhibitions of 1878 and 1889. Moreover, in the city, he got to know many artists, deepening, in particular, his knowledge of the art of the JB Camille Corot. Having become well-known and appreciated by the French public, in 1889 he organized one of his staff in Paris. At the same time, it does not fail to take part in some of the most important national events in Naples (1877), Turin (1880 and 1898) and Rome (1883). In 1893 he returned first to Portici and then to Naples, a city in which, in 1895, he assumed the chair of Painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, which he held until 1902. Along with his presence in the academic world, Federico's participation continued. Rossano to the most important exhibitions, until 1912, the year of his death. The work proposed by us for sale is extremely refined, a portrait of a young girl running in the woods. The girl in clothes that reveal the belonging to a noble family appears at the centre of the scene among the green. The sumptuous clothes are still taste of the eighteenth century place the work, circa 1860 period in which the Gonin often re-evoked in his works the previous century. The work reveals the high artistic quality achieved by the painter in the use of colors and composition. The dress is made with such perfection that it seems to be able to feel the delicacy of the satin to the touch. From the point of view of the composition, the work is of the highest quality, perfectly balanced. A painting, moreover full of personality and feeling, in fact perfectly perceives the emotion of the girl who flees with composure, but what transpires is a peaceful escape, perhaps dictated by a moment of play on a beautiful summer day. Framed, 20th century. Our painting for sale expresses the period circa 1860 when the artist focuses on landscapes. Refined and romantic way of painting nature, perfect use of colors. His way of painting certainly influences the influence of the current of the Macchiaioli.
