19th-century oil-on-paper drawing '' Female nude study '' by an artist of The English School William Etty Provenance: The drawing came from private collection of Henry Sapio Reitlinger. Then been sold in one of the auction houses and then acquired by Patrick Boyd - Carpenter, ( Specialist in Old Master drawings & works on paper ). Comes with Auction house Catalog with listed drawing with lot Number and description. Drawing The dimensions: 31 cm x 22.86 cm Full frame size: 60 x 49 cm Weight: Approx 2 KG The drawing comes with 1954 Sotheby’s & Co. auction catalogue shown in the last two pictures. About the artist: William Etty was born in York, March 10, 1787 and died in York, November 13, 1849. Drawing his subjects from classical mythology and history, Etty concentrated on depictions of the nude figure--the only nineteenth-century British painter to achieve success in this genre. He studied at the Royal Academy Schools from 1806, and later under Thomas Lawrence and the French painter Jean-Baptiste Regnault. Having established his reputation in the 1820s through large exhibition pieces (many of them based on extensive study of the nude model), Etty was elected a Royal Academician in 1825. He made his fortune in the following decades, supplying merchants and industrialists with smaller-scale paintings. Condition: The drawing is pre-owned, the frame has minor signs of usage, the original drawing is in good and pleasant condition overall.
