Original antique Dutch Painting, Oil on canvas. Quirinus van Amelsfoort painted the birth of Jesus Christ. Typical for Quirinus van Amelsfoort was his signatuur. On paintings he painted himself he engraved his signature into the paint. As seen on the picture. The painting is in very good condition and the frame is exact as the paintings of Quirinus van Amelsfoort paintings in the Noord Brabants Museum. Measures: Size including frame 148 cm x 128 cm Size excluding frame 135 x 110 cm. This Dutch painter was born in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands 1760 and died in 1820 in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. He painted allegories, history, and portraits; in the last the likenesses were remarkable for their truth. Quirinus van Amelsfoort painted in the Baroque tradition. He attended the academy in Düsseldorf. This academy had gallery with paintings of classic well known painters. Quirinus was inspired by Rubens. In 1803 Quirinus van Amelsfoort painted a painting for the chimney of the Government building. This painting representing the goddess Minerva, still hangs on the original place. A year later he received the assignment to make fifteen armorial paintings for the same building. Also the paintings still hang in the hall and the stairwell. Nowadays this building is in use of the Noord Brabants Museum. They are reminiscent of wallpaper paintings that were often made in the 18th century from the coats of arms, they show scenic and anecdotal details of the various Brabant provinces. For the Bossche butchers' guild Quirinus painted a five-meter-wide canvas of the patron saint, Sint-Nicolaas. This painting is nowadays in the city hall of 's-Hertogenbosch. Also a series of almost life-size silhouette figures in the Noord Brabants Museum that together represent the suffering and death of Christ is attributed to him. Quirinus van Amelsfoort was, in his time, a very deserving portrait painter. In 1815 Quirinus van Amelsfoort was asked to follow up the first director of the art academy in 's-Hertogenbosch - Netherlands Connaisseurs will certify provenance, age, condition and authenticity in an official written appraisal, to the buyer.
