About the Item
This is a truly splendid antique oil on canvas portrait painting by Robert James Gordon RBA (British fl. 1871-1893) signed with initials lower right and also inscribed with the name of the artist on the reverse, late 19 century in date.
This beautiful oil painting is a portrait bust of a young beautiful lady wearing a lace bonnet with a light blue bow. Painted in the impressionists style with the focus on the play of light and shadow.
It is housed in it's magnificent giltwood frame which adds extra splendour to this remarkable work of art.

Robert James Gordon RBA (British fl. 1871-1893)
Painter of portraits and genre scenes; exhibited between 1871 and 1894 at: The Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Society of British Artists (of which he was elected member in 1876), Royal Society of Artists in Birmingham, Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, Royal Scottish Academy, Walker Art Gallery and the Suffolk Street Gallery; lived and worked in London.
